PROGRAMS IN REPERTOIRE

Der Rose Pilgerfahrt is a chamber oratorio by ROBERT SCHUMANN; a fairy-tale according to the composer himself. It was originally composed for vocal soloists, choir and piano, and performed with this scoring on July 6th, 2852 in Düsseldorf, when the Schumanns celebrated with a few friends their entering of the family’s new home. Schumann decided to orchestrate the oratorio only later; therefore, it is the original version with piano which fully reveals the true nature of this work, where Lieder and movements for vocal ensembles and choir are beautifully juxtaposed.
