PROGRAMS IN REPERTOIRE

THE IMPORTANCE OF BEING JOHANN

Works by the Bach Family – Leipzig and surroundings

The programme is rather serious, in spite of the ironic title playing on the fact that Johann is the first name of all composers featured in this concert. It is no coincidence: most of them (Johann Michael, Johann Christoph, Johann Ludwig) belong to the large Bach family. “Surroundings” refers to the city of Leipzig, and particularly to the Kantors of the Thomaskirche. Of course, this programme could not fail to include Johann Sebastian, whose Jesu meine Freude BWV 227, one of the most representative motets, will be performed.
